In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 Palit JetStream 2GB Edition are massively better than the AMD FirePro D300.

The GTX 770 has a 375 MHz higher core clock speed and 48 more Texture Mapping Units than the FirePro D300. This results in the GTX 770 providing 85.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770 has a 375 MHz higher core clock speed than the FirePro D300 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 770 providing 12 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The FirePro D300 was released less than a year after the GTX 770, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The FirePro D300 and the GeForce GTX 770 Palit JetStream 2GB Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GTX 770 has 64.3 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the FirePro D300, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 770 is much better than the FirePro D300.

The FirePro D300 has 1280 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 770 Palit JetStream 2GB Edition has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the FirePro D300 is 645 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 770 is 1846. The GTX 770 having 1201 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 770 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the FirePro D300.

The FirePro D300 requires 150 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GeForce GTX 770 Palit JetStream 2GB Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the FirePro D300 and a PSU with at least 550 Watts for the GTX 770. The GTX 770 has been recommended a PSU with 50 Watts more than the FirePro D300. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 770 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the FirePro D300.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewFirePro D300 is a workstation Graphics Card based on the 28nm GCN architecture.
It's based on the Pitcairn XT Core (same used on 7870) and therefore offers 1280 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 32 ROPs on a 256-bit interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit is clocked 775MHz while the memory clock operates at 1250MHZ.
It is thus considerably lower clocked and its gaming performance is even lower, as Radeon HD 7870 benefits from certified gaming drivers which unlock the GCN's architecture potential while FirePro D300 is made for professional applications. Therefore, expect its performance to be similar to Radeon HD 7850.
GeForce GTX 770 Palit JetStream 2GB Edition is a special edition of the high-end GeForce GTX 770.
This edition comes with a custom triple fan cooling solution which by itself should allow a slight performance boost, as GeForce GTX 770 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 1046MHz to 1150MHz while its boost clock is now of 1202MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
Benchmarks indicate a 6% performance boost when compared to the reference card and so this edition performs very slightly better than GeForce GTX 590.
