In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Gigabyte OC 3GB Edition are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7790 DirectCU II OC 2GB Edition.

The new features include the WINDFORCE 2X 100mm Fansink equipped with "Triangle Cool" Technology solution which is more effective than the standard/reference cooler.
In terms of overclocking, the base-clock was increased from 980MHz to 1033MHz and the boost clock can now reach 1098MHz, instead of 1033MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
Furthermore, the frame buffer was increased to 3GB though this will not boost its performance and can be addressed as a gimmick - marketing to lure consumers into paying more for the same product.
The overclocking is therefore significant and the performance boost is around 6% when compared to the standard GeForce GTX 660.
Radeon HD 7790 DirectCU II OC 2GB Edition is a special edition of the performance Radeon HD 7790.
This edition comes with a cooling solution called DirectCU II, which achieves 20% lower temps and vastly quieter performance than reference with direct-contact copper heatpipes and dual fans, according to Asus. It also comes overclocked out of the box in the core-clock to 1075MHz and on the memory clock to 1600MHz, though the latter might prove useless, as this card might not benefit from extra bandwidth.
The 2GB framer buffer proves useless and Benchmarks indicate a 5% performance boost when compared to the reference card.
