In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Quadro K2200 are noticeably better than the AMD Radeon HD 4850 Gigabyte 512MB Edition.

The Quadro K2200 has a 27 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the HD 4850. This results in the Quadro K2200 providing 1.1 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Quadro K2200 has a 27 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 4850 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the Quadro K2200 providing 0.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Quadro K2200 was released over a year more recently than the HD 4850, and so the Quadro K2200 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the HD 4850.

The Quadro K2200 has 3584 MB more video memory than the HD 4850, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Quadro K2200 also has superior memory performance overall.

The Quadro K2200 has 19.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 4850, which means that the memory performance of the Quadro K2200 is slightly better than the HD 4850.

The Quadro K2200 has 640 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 4850 Gigabyte 512MB Edition has 800. However, the actual shader performance of the Quadro K2200 is 576 and the actual shader performance of the HD 4850 is 358. The Quadro K2200 having 218 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Quadro K2200 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 4850.

The Quadro K2200 transistor size technology is 27 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 4850. This means that the Quadro K2200 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 4850.

The Quadro K2200 requires 68 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 4850 Gigabyte 512MB Edition requires 110 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the Quadro K2200 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 4850. The HD 4850 requires 42 Watts more than the Quadro K2200 to run. The difference is significant enough that the HD 4850 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the Quadro K2200.
