In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 755M are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 445M v2.
The GeForce GT 755M has a 410 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GT 445M. This results in the GeForce GT 755M providing 17.7 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GeForce GT 755M has a 410 MHz higher core clock speed than the GT 445M and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GeForce GT 755M providing 6.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GeForce GT 755M was released over a year more recently than the GT 445M, and so the GeForce GT 755M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GT 445M.
The GeForce GT 755M has 1024 MB more video memory than the GT 445M, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GeForce GT 755M also has superior memory performance overall.
The GeForce GT 755M has 46.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GT 445M, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GT 755M is noticeably better than the GT 445M.
The GeForce GT 445M v2 has 144 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 755M has 384. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 445M is 164 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 755M is 376. The GeForce GT 755M having 212 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GeForce GT 755M delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GT 445M.
The GeForce GT 755M transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GT 445M. This means that the GeForce GT 755M is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GT 445M.
The GeForce GT 445M v2 requires 35 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 755M requires 50 Watts. The GeForce GT 755M requires 15 Watts more than the GT 445M to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce GT 755M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GT 445M.

Mini Review | Overview GeForce GT 445M v2 is a Fast-Middle-Class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Fermi Architecture. Architecture The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature. Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed GF106-N11E-GE-A1 which has 3 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 144 Shader Processing Units, 24 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 570MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 625MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Optimus, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 35W, it is suited for 15" or larger laptops. Performance Gaming benchmarks put its performance almost on level with the desktop GeForce GT 450 v4. System Suggestions We recommend a decent processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 445M v2. | Overview GeForce GT 755M is a Fast-Middle-Class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture. Architecture The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs. Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed GK107-GT-755M which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 980MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 1350MHz. Features DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Kepler Boost, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 50W, it is suited for average sized laptops. Performance GeForce GT 755M is essentially a fast GeForce GTX 660M. Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is only slightly below the desktop GeForce GTX 650. System Suggestions We recommend a decent processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 755M. |
