In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 Palit 4GB Edition are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB.
The GTX 970 and the GTX 960 Ti have the same core clock speed of 1050 MHz, but the GTX 970 has 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 960 Ti. As a result, the GTX 970 exhibits a 8.4 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 960 Ti. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 970 and the GTX 960 Ti have the same core clock speed of 1050 MHz, but the GTX 960 Ti has 8 more Render Output Units than the GTX 970. As a result, the GTX 960 Ti exhibits a 8.4 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 970. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GTX 960 Ti was released over a year more recently than the GTX 970, and so the GTX 960 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 970.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The GTX 970 has 2048 MB more video memory than the GTX 960 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 970 also has superior memory performance overall.
The memory bandwidth of the GeForce GTX 970 Palit 4GB Edition and the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB are the same, which means the GTX 970 and the GTX 960 Ti have equal limitations when it comes to graphical data transfer.
The GeForce GTX 970 Palit 4GB Edition has 1664 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 970 is 2646 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 960 Ti is 1809. The GTX 970 having 837 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 970 delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 960 Ti.
The GeForce GTX 970 Palit 4GB Edition requires 150 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB requires 140 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the GTX 970 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the GTX 960 Ti. The GTX 970 requires 10 Watts more than the GTX 960 Ti to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GTX 970 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GTX 960 Ti.

Mini Review | Overview GeForce GTX 970 Palit 4GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's high-end GeForce GTX 970 4GB created by Palit. It doesn't have any new features. Read below to know more. Overclock: Central Unit The Central Unit runs at the same speed. Overclock: Memory Clock The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer Remain the same. Cooling Solution The Cooling System remains the same. Performance Without a New Cooling Solution or overclocking out of the box, GeForce GTX 970 Palit 4GB Edition is as fast as the reference GeForce GTX 970 4GB. | Overview GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB is an upcoming high-end Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Maxwell architecture. Architecture The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient. GPU It equips a GPU codenamed GM204-200-KD which has 12 SM activated and thus offers 1536 Shader Processing Units, 96 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The central unit runs at ????MHz and goes up to ????MHz, in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1753MHz. Features DirectX 12.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 140W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with one available 6-pin connector. Performance Coming Soon! System Suggestions We recommend a very strong processor (Intel Core i5 Quad Core/AMD FX Eight Core) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB. |
