In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 7350M are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7290.

The Radeon HD 7350M has a 220 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon HD 7290, but the Radeon HD 7290 has 4 more Texture Mapping Units than the Radeon HD 7350M. As a result, the Radeon HD 7290 exhibits a 0.2 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the Radeon HD 7350M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The Radeon HD 7350M has a 220 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon HD 7290 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the Radeon HD 7350M providing 0.9 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The Radeon HD 7290 was released less than a year after the Radeon HD 7350M, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very poor performance, so rather than upgrading from one to the other you should consider looking at more powerful GPUs. Neither of these will be able to run the latest games in any playable way.

The Radeon HD 7350M has 1024 MB video memory, but the Radeon HD 7290 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

Both the Radeon HD 7290 and the Radeon HD 7350M have 80 Shader Processing Units. While the two GPUs have the same number of SPUs, the actual performance delivered by the Radeon HD 7350M is 20 and by the Radeon HD 7290 is 20. Knowing that the shader performance of the Radeon HD 7350M is superior, it is not necessary to examine the GPUs' respective Texture and Pixel Fill Rates.

The Radeon HD 7290 requires 9 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 7350M requires 7 Watts. The Radeon HD 7290 requires 2 Watts more than the Radeon HD 7350M to run. The difference is not significant enough for the Radeon HD 7290 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Radeon HD 7350M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon HD 7290 is an Integrated Graphics Card, on the APU C-70, based on the second revision of the Terascale Architecture.

Architecture
The Second variant of the Terascale 2 Architecture is still manufactured with a 40nm technology and despite allowing more Stream Cores, their design remains more or less the same compared to the first variant.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Loveland which has 1 Compute Units activated and thus offers 80 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Runs at 280MHz and goes up to 400MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU Shares the System's RAM which varies from laptop to laptop. Typically, the GPU reserves 1GB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on the at which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. In this case, it is 533MHz.
It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus Radeon HD 7310's performance may vary from system to system.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for HD3D, Eyefinity, App Acceleration, PowerPlay and other technologies.

Performance
Radeon HD 7290 is a direct re-brand of Radeon HD 6290.
Gaming benchmarks put its performance on level with the older Radeon HD 6290.

System Suggestions
We recommend 4GB of RAM for a system with Radeon HD 7290.
Overview
Radeon HD 7350M is an Entry-Level Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Terascale Architecture.

Architecture
The Second variant of the Terascale 2 Architecture is still manufactured with a 40nm technology and despite allowing more Stream Cores, their design remains more or less the same compared to the first variant.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed Robson PRO which has 1 Compute Units activated and thus offers 80 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit runs at 500MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The memory clock operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for HD3D, Eyefinity, App Acceleration, PowerPlay and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 7W, it is suited for smaller laptops.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance on average with Intel's HD Graphics 2500.
