In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel HD i7 3840QM are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce G 102M.

The HD i7 3840QM was released over three years more recently than the GeForce G 102M, and so the HD i7 3840QM is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GeForce G 102M when running the latest games.

The GeForce G 102M has 512 MB video memory, but the HD i7 3840QM does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

Both the HD i7 3840QM and the GeForce G 102M have 16 Shader Processing Units. While the two GPUs have the same number of SPUs, the actual performance delivered by the HD i7 3840QM is 83 and by the GeForce G 102M is 18. Knowing that the shader performance of the HD i7 3840QM is superior, it is not necessary to examine the GPUs' respective Texture and Pixel Fill Rates.

The HD i7 3840QM transistor size technology is 43 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GeForce G 102M. This means that the HD i7 3840QM is expected to run much cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GeForce G 102M.

The HD i7 3840QM requires 45 Watts to run and the GeForce G 102M requires 14 Watts. The HD i7 3840QM requires 31 Watts more than the GeForce G 102M to run. The difference is significant enough that the HD i7 3840QM may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GeForce G 102M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewN/AGeForce G 102M is an entry-class level GPU of the 100M Series released by NVIDIA, in 2009.
Since it only supports DirectX up to 10, games that use DirectX 11 are not supported and unplayable.
With only a 64 bit Memory Bus and a maximum of 512MB dedicated video memory, the performance is quite low so even though it supports DirectX 10, demanding games that use it, will only be playable at low settings. The performance depends a lot on the memory type used, which can be either DDR2 or DDR3. Very demanding games like Metro 2033 or The Witcher 2 are certainly unplayable, even at the lowest settings and even demanding games like Crysis 2 and Skyrim V might be unplayable at low settings. Even less demanding, modern, games, like Sims 3, require reduced settings to run smoothly.
