In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 680MX are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M v2 4GB.

The GTX 950M has a 274 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 680MX, but the GeForce GTX 680MX has 88 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the GeForce GTX 680MX exhibits a 52.3 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 950M has a 274 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 680MX, but the GeForce GTX 680MX has 16 more Render Output Units than the GTX 950M. As a result, the GeForce GTX 680MX exhibits a 7.1 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 950M. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 950M was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GTX 680MX, and so the GTX 950M is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GTX 680MX.

The GTX 950M has 2048 MB more video memory than the GeForce GTX 680MX, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the GeForce GTX 680MX has superior memory performance.

The GeForce GTX 680MX has 131.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 950M, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GTX 680MX is massively better than the GTX 950M.

The GeForce GTX 950M v2 4GB has 640 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 680MX has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 950M is 971 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GTX 680MX is 1104. The GeForce GTX 680MX having 133 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GeForce GTX 680MX delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 950M.

The GeForce GTX 950M v2 4GB requires 50 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 680MX requires 122 Watts. The GeForce GTX 680MX requires 72 Watts more than the GTX 950M to run. The difference is significant enough that the GeForce GTX 680MX may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 950M.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GTX 950M v2 4GB is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first variant of the Maxwell architecture.

Architecture
The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM107-N16P-GT which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The central unit runs at 993MHz and goes up to 1124MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 900MHz. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 50W, it may be equipped in average sized notebooks.

Performance
Because GeForce GTX 950M 2GB is just a higher clocked GeForce GTX 850M 2GB, its performance is only about 5% faster than its predecessors and so GeForce GTX 860M 2GB is still faster.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 950M v2 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1600x900. We recommend a Strong Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
Overview
GeForce GTX 680MX is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed Kepler Kepler GK104-N13E-GTX-A2 which has 8 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 1536 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 719MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 122W, it is suited for very large sized laptops.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks indicate is not too far from the desktop GeForce GTX 660 Ti.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Power Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 680MX.
