In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M SLI are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4GB.

The GTX 770M has a 88 MHz higher core clock speed and 32 more Texture Mapping Units than the R9 M395X. This results in the GTX 770M providing 37.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 770M has a 88 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Render Output Units than the R9 M395X. This results in the GTX 770M providing 15.8 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The R9 M395X was released over a year more recently than the GTX 770M, and so the R9 M395X is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 770M.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB and the GeForce GTX 770M SLI have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GTX 770M has 32 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the R9 M395X, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 770M is noticeably better than the R9 M395X.

The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB has 2048 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 770M SLI has 1920. However, the actual shader performance of the R9 M395X is 1259 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 770M is 1557. The GTX 770M having 298 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 770M delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the R9 M395X.

The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB requires 125 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 770M SLI requires 150 Watts. The GTX 770M requires 25 Watts more than the R9 M395X to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GTX 770M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the R9 M395X.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture (CGN).

Architecture
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB Features a GPU Codenamed Amethyst XT which is a Third Gen GCN GPU and is identical to the Tonga XT GPU used on the Desktop Radeon R9 380X.
Amethyst XT has 32 Compute Units Unlocked and thus offers 2048 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The Central Unit is Clocked at 723MHz.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with fast GDDR5 and Accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit Memory Interface. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 4GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
However, because the GPU itself is too weak to work under other circumstances in which 4GB of Memory are needed - such as 4K Gaming, a Large Frame Buffer is mostly a Gimmick.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 125W, it is suited for very large laptops.

Performance
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is a Direct Rebrand of Radeon R9 M295X 4GB.
Performance is Comparable to the desktop Radeon R9 280. Therefore, even GeForce GTX 970M is still faster.

System Suggestions
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a Strong Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
GeForce GTX 770M SLI is a combination of 2 GeForce GTX 770M put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.
Together, this combination offers 1920 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 48 ROPs. This, on a 192-bit memory interface, per card, of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 811MHz and goes up to XXXMHz, in Turbo Mode, the memory clock operates at 1000MHz.
Best case scenario, this combination is expected to perform better a single GeForce GTX 780M and deliver similar performance to a desktop GeForce GTX 680 but ultimately, its performance depends on the driver support and on the 3D application.
Therefore, and paired with a powerful processor, all demanding games should be playable at the highest settings. Still, this combination might surpass the 150W barrier of TDP and therefore require more power than a single GeForce GTX 780M, though delivering better performance.
