In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4GB are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M SLI.

The GTX 765M has a 74 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the R9 M395X. This results in the GTX 765M providing 9.5 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 765M has a 74 MHz higher core clock speed than the R9 M395X and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 765M providing 2.4 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The R9 M395X was released over a year more recently than the GTX 765M, and so the R9 M395X is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 765M.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB and the GeForce GTX 765M SLI have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The R9 M395X has 32 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 765M, which means that the memory performance of the R9 M395X is noticeably better than the GTX 765M.

The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB has 2048 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 765M SLI has 1536. However, the actual shader performance of the R9 M395X is 1259 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 765M is 1326. The GTX 765M having 67 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the R9 M395X performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Radeon R9 M395X 4GB requires 125 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 765M SLI requires 125 Watts. The two GPUs require the same amount of wattage to run. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the second revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture (CGN).

Architecture
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB Features a GPU Codenamed Amethyst XT which is a Third Gen GCN GPU and is identical to the Tonga XT GPU used on the Desktop Radeon R9 380X.
Amethyst XT has 32 Compute Units Unlocked and thus offers 2048 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

GPU
The Central Unit is Clocked at 723MHz.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with fast GDDR5 and Accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit Memory Interface. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 4GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
However, because the GPU itself is too weak to work under other circumstances in which 4GB of Memory are needed - such as 4K Gaming, a Large Frame Buffer is mostly a Gimmick.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 125W, it is suited for very large laptops.

Performance
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is a Direct Rebrand of Radeon R9 M295X 4GB.
Performance is Comparable to the desktop Radeon R9 280. Therefore, even GeForce GTX 970M is still faster.

System Suggestions
Radeon R9 M395X 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a Strong Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
Overview
GeForce GTX 765M SLI is a solution of two GeForce GTX 765M put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.

Architecture
The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.

GPU
It consists of 2 GPUs Codenamed GK106-N14E-GE-B-A1 which, together, offer 1536 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 797MHz and goes up to 863MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
Each GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1000MHz.

Power Consumption
Power Consumption lies between 100W and 150W.

Performance
Because SLI Relies on Proper Driver Support for Scaling, Performance may vary from game to game.
Overall, GeForce GTX 765M SLI should offer Performance Comparable to a single GeForce GTX 780M at 1920x1080.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 765M SLI is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080.
