In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition are massively better than the AMD Radeon HD 8570 (OEM).

The HD 7870 has a 280 MHz higher core clock speed and 60 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 8570. This results in the HD 7870 providing 66.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The HD 7870 has a 280 MHz higher core clock speed and 24 more Render Output Units than the HD 8570. This results in the HD 7870 providing 26.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD 8570 was released less than a year after the HD 7870, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The Radeon HD 8570 (OEM) and the Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The HD 7870 has 126.1 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 8570, which means that the memory performance of the HD 7870 is massively better than the HD 8570.

The Radeon HD 8570 (OEM) has 320 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition has 1280. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 8570 is 212 and the actual shader performance of the HD 7870 is 1099. The HD 7870 having 887 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 7870 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 8570.

The Radeon HD 8570 (OEM) requires 30 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 8570.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon HD 8570 (OEM) is, an OEM Only, Middle-Class Graphics Card based on the Second Generation of the Graphics Core Next Architecture (GCN).

Architecture
Radeon HD 8570 (OEM) Features a GPU Codenamed Oland PRO. It has Feature Level DirectX 12.0, the AMD TrueAudio Technology and a revised version of AMD's Powertune Technology.
Oland PRO has 5 Compute Units Unlocked and thus offers 320 Shader Processing Units, 20 TMUs and 8 ROPs.

GPU
The Central Unit is Clocked at 720MHz and goes up to 780MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with DDR3 and Accesses the Frame Buffer through a 128-bit Memory Interface. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 2GB. This is Adequate and a Good Match for the GPU's Shader Capabilities.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 30W, it requires at least a 400W PSU and relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
Performance is Comparable to the Desktop Radeon R7 240.

System Suggestions
Radeon HD 8570 (OEM) is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1366x768. We recommend a Middle-Class Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition is a special edition of the powerful Radeon HD 7870. See the standard version for more information about it.
The new features include the DirectCU II cooling solution which is 20% more effective than the reference cooler, according to Asus and a small increase in the core-clock to 1010MHz as well as in the memory clock to 1210MHz.
Benchmarks indicate almost no performance boost when compared to the standard Radeon HD 7870 and so its performance is on level with the it as the boost is beneath 1%.
All games, including demanding one's, will run on the highest settings.
