In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel HD Graphics 4400 Desktop are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 220 v2 MSI 1GB Edition.

The Graphics 4400 has no core clock speed set, so any comparison between Texture and Pixel Fill Rates is not currently possible.

The Graphics 4400 was released over three years more recently than the GT 220, and so the Graphics 4400 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GT 220 when running the latest games.

The GT 220 has 1024 MB video memory, but the Graphics 4400 does not have an entry, so the two GPUs cannot be reliably compared in this area.

The GeForce GT 220 v2 MSI 1GB Edition has 48 Shader Processing Units and the HD Graphics 4400 Desktop has 80. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 220 is 60 and the actual shader performance of the Graphics 4400 is 0. The GT 220 having 60 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Graphics 4400 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Graphics 4400 transistor size technology is 18 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GT 220. This means that the Graphics 4400 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GT 220. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the Graphics 4400 should consume less power than the GT 220.

The GeForce GT 220 v2 MSI 1GB Edition requires 58 Watts to run but there is no entry for the HD Graphics 4400 Desktop. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 220.

Cooling Solution

Performance is Lower than the Reference GeForce GT 220 v2, especially at Higher Resolutions.
Intel HD Graphics 4400 Desktop is a variant of Intel HD Graphics 4600 Desktop, for ULV processors.
It features 20 Execution Units (80 Shader Processing Units) and its central-unit speed will range between XXXMHz and 1150MHz (Turbo Boost) and that the fastest memory supported is DDR3-1600 meaning its memory-clock will operate at 800MHz, at the most.
Compared to Intel HD Graphics 4600 Desktop, its performance is only slightly lower but its TDP is significantly lower.
