In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce 945M 2GB are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M.

The GeForce 945M 2GB has a 78 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 765M, but the GeForce GTX 765M has 32 more Texture Mapping Units than the GeForce 945M 2GB. As a result, the GeForce GTX 765M exhibits a 24.7 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GeForce 945M 2GB. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GeForce 945M 2GB has a 78 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 765M and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GeForce 945M 2GB providing 1.2 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GeForce 945M 2GB was released over a year more recently than the GeForce GTX 765M, and so the GeForce 945M 2GB is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GeForce GTX 765M.

The GeForce 945M 2GB and the GeForce GTX 765M have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GeForce GTX 765M has 32.1 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce 945M 2GB, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GTX 765M is noticeably better than the GeForce 945M 2GB.

The GeForce 945M 2GB has 512 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 765M has 768. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce 945M 2GB is 722 and the actual shader performance of the GeForce GTX 765M is 653. The GeForce 945M 2GB having 69 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GeForce GTX 765M performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce 945M 2GB requires 40 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 765M requires 65 Watts. The GeForce GTX 765M requires 25 Watts more than the GeForce 945M 2GB to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GeForce GTX 765M to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GeForce 945M 2GB.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce 945M 2GB is a Middle-Class Mobile Graphics Card based on the Maxwell Architecture.

GeForce 945M 2GB Features a GPU Codenamed GM107-???? which is a First Gen Maxwell GPU and is identical to the GM107-300-A2 used on the desktop GeForce GTX 750 but without GDDR5 Support.
GM107-???? has 4 Compute Units Unlocked and thus offers 512 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs.

The Central Unit is Clocked at 928Hz and goes up to 1045MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with DDR3 and Accesses the Frame Buffer through a 128-bit Memory Interface. The Memory Clock Operates at 1000MHz.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 2GB.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 40W, it is suited for medium sized laptops.

Benchmarks Indicate Performance can match the older but Higher Positioned GeForce GTX 765M.
As a Result, Gaming 1080p is possible but not recommended.

System Suggestions
GeForce 945M 2GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1600x900. We Recommend a Middle-Class Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
GeForce GTX 760M is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture.

The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.

It equips a GPU Codenamed GK106-N14E-GE-B-A1 which has 4 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 768 Shader Processing Units, 64 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 850MHz.

The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 1002MHz.

DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Kepler Boost, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 65W, it is suited for large laptops.

Despite being underclocked, when compared to GeForce GTX 650 Ti, GeForce GTX 765M ends up performing better in most cases as fast since the Kepler Boost 2.0 Technology allows an even higher Central Unit Speed, which most times exceeds the 950MHz.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is on average with the desktop GeForce GTX 650 Ti.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Powerful Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 765M.
