In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Power Edition OC 1GB are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 740 v3 Asus Dust Proof Fan OC 2GB Edition.

The GT 740 has a 78 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 650 Ti, but the GTX 650 Ti has 32 more Texture Mapping Units than the GT 740. As a result, the GTX 650 Ti exhibits a 29.3 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GT 740. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GT 740 has a 78 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 650 Ti and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GT 740 providing 1.2 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GT 740 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 650 Ti, and so the GT 740 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 650 Ti.

The GT 740 has 1024 MB more video memory than the GTX 650 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the GTX 650 Ti has superior memory performance.

The GTX 650 Ti has 6.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GT 740, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 650 Ti is marginally better than the GT 740.

The GeForce GT 740 v3 Asus Dust Proof Fan OC 2GB Edition has 384 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Power Edition OC 1GB has 768. However, the actual shader performance of the GT 740 is 411 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 650 Ti is 763. The GTX 650 Ti having 352 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 650 Ti delivers a noticeably smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GT 740.

The GeForce GT 740 v3 Asus Dust Proof Fan OC 2GB Edition requires 64 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Power Edition OC 1GB. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GT 740.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 740 v3 Asus Dust Proof Fan OC 2GB Edition is a Special Edition of NVIDIA's Middle-Class GeForce GT 740 v3, created by Asus.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit was raised from 1006MHz to 1071MHz.

Overclock: Memory Clock
None.

Frame Buffer
The Frame Buffer was doubled to 2GB. This would prove useful under most circumstances because most modern 3D Games require at least 2GB of Memory to run Optimally.
However, because the GPU itself is too weak to work under other circumstances in which 2GB of Memory are needed - such as 1080p Gaming, a Larger Frame Buffer is mostly a Gimmick.

Cooling Solution
Untouched.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 5% performance over the reference GeForce GT 740 v3.
GeForce GTX 650 Ti Power Edition OC 1GB is a special edition of the fast-middle-class GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
This edition features a new and better cooling system called Cyclone II Thermal Design with Dust Removal technology and an increase in the central clock that went from 928MHz to 993MHz. The Memory clock was left untouched.
The overclocking is relevant and benchmarks indicate there's a 4% boost when compared to the reference GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
