In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB are marginally better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB.

The GTX 1060 has a 88 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the GTX 1060. This results in the GTX 1060 providing 6.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1060 has a 88 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 1060 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 1060 providing 4.2 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

Both the GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB and the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB were released at the same time, so are likely to be quite similar.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB and the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The memory bandwidth of the GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB and the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB are the same, which means the GTX 1060 and the GTX 1060 have equal limitations when it comes to graphical data transfer.

Both the GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB and the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB have 1152 Shader Processing Units. Having the same number of SPUs and using the same architecture means that the performance they offer can be compared by looking at the memory bandwidth, Texture and Pixel Rates. In this case, the GTX 1060 has 6.4 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate and 4.2 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate, but the has GB/sec greater memory bandwidth. Although the GPUs are very similar in performance, the GTX 1060 takes the edge.

The GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB requires 120 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB requires 120 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 1060 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 1060. The two GPUs require the same amount of wattage to run. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
The GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB is an overclocked variant of the current entry level Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB graphics card, based on the Pascal Architecture. It comes with locked memory of 3GB instead of the full 6GB.

Architecture
It equips a GPU Codenamed P106-300-A1 which is a first gen Pascal GPU and has 9 SM activated, offering 1152 Shader Processing Units (the GTX 1060 6GB version offers 1280 SPU), 72 TMUs and 48 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1594MHz and goes up to 1809MHz, when Boost mode is activated.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 3GB frame buffer of GDDR5, through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 2002MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 400W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
The GeForce GTX 1060 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3GB is a high performance GPU. This grpahics card will run most triple A games at 1440p on medium/high graphics with frames per second of 60+. At 1080p screen resolution this card will run the same games at very high graphic settings at 60+fps. The 3GB memory reduction that will hamper the high quality game textures this card can deliver, making it less future proof as more GPU memory dependent games are released.

Performance
The Geforce GTX 1060 3GB is capable of playing most modern game system requirements at high graphics settings. The 3GB version is normally around 5% worse than the GTX 1060 6GB full fat version in terms of sheer processing power. But its the 3GB memory reduction that will hamper the high quality game textures this card can deliver, making it less future proof as more GPU memory hungry games are released.
