In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 MSI OC 3GB are marginally better than the AMD Radeon RX 570 8GB.

The GTX 1060 has a 376 MHz higher core clock speed than the RX 570, but the RX 570 has 56 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1060. As a result, the RX 570 exhibits a 38.3 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1060. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1060 has a 376 MHz higher core clock speed and 16 more Render Output Units than the RX 570. This results in the GTX 1060 providing 36.7 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RX 570 was released less than a year after the GTX 1060, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RX 570 transistor size technology is 2 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1060. This means that the RX 570 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1060. While they exhibit similar graphical performance, the RX 570 should consume less power than the GTX 1060.

The Radeon RX 570 8GB requires 120 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1060 MSI OC 3GB requires 120 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the RX 570 and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the GTX 1060. The two GPUs require the same amount of wattage to run. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. These new AMD Radeon RX 500 series cards are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This RX 570 graphics card is one of the higher performance models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.

The AMD RX 570 8GB graphics card released in April 2017 as an AMD performance gaming graphics card. This card competes against Nvidia's GTX 1050 Ti and replaces the older Radeon RX 470. As a Polaris refresh, the RX 570 runs at a slightly faster clock speed than the RX 470.

Architecture
It is powered by the 14nm Pollaris 20 GPU, which has 2048 shader processing units, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

The central unit runs at 1168MHz and goes up to 1244MHz, when the boost mode is triggered.

Memory
The RX570 comes with a 8GB frame buffer of GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 400W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
The AMD RX 570 has been built as a Mid/High performance graphics card for 2017. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2017 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this RX570 8GB card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.

System Suggestions
The RX 570 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range R5 Ryzen processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 570.

Performance
The GeForce GTX 1060 MSI OC 3GB is a high performance graphics card that can run triple AAA games from 2016 at 1080p on very high graphic settings and delivering 60+ frames per second. At a screen resolution at 1440p is will run these same games on high/medium at 60 fps. The 3GB memory reduction that will hamper the high quality game textures that this card can deliver, making it less future proof as more GPU memory hungry games are released. This is a small form card that will be perfect for those wanting to conserve space inside their build.
