In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon RX 560 HIS Green iCooler OC 2GB are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7850 XFX Ultra OC Edition.

The RX 560 has a 200 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the HD 7850. This results in the RX 560 providing 12.8 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The RX 560 has a 200 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 7850, but the HD 7850 has 16 more Render Output Units than the RX 560. As a result, the HD 7850 exhibits a 12.4 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the RX 560. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RX 560 was released over three years more recently than the HD 7850, and so the RX 560 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 7850 when running the latest games.

The RX 560 has 1024 MB more video memory than the HD 7850, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RX 560 also has superior memory performance overall.

The HD 7850 has 41.6 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RX 560, which means that the memory performance of the HD 7850 is noticeably better than the RX 560.

Both the Radeon RX 560 HIS Green iCooler OC 2GB and the Radeon HD 7850 XFX Ultra OC Edition have 1024 Shader Processing Units. While the two GPUs have the same number of SPUs, the actual performance delivered by the RX 560 is 1225 and by the HD 7850 is 849. Knowing that the shader performance of the RX 560 is superior, it is not necessary to examine the GPUs' respective Texture and Pixel Fill Rates.

The RX 560 transistor size technology is 14 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 7850. This means that the RX 560 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 7850.

The Radeon RX 560 HIS Green iCooler OC 2GB requires 80 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 7850 XFX Ultra OC Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the RX 560 and a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the HD 7850. The HD 7850 has been recommended a PSU with 50 Watts more than the RX 560. The difference is significant enough that the HD 7850 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RX 560.
