In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti are significantly better than the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB.

The GTX 1070 Ti has a 350 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the RX 580. This results in the GTX 1070 Ti providing 63.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1070 Ti has a 350 MHz higher core clock speed and 32 more Render Output Units than the RX 580. This results in the GTX 1070 Ti providing 62.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 1070 Ti was released less than a year after the RX 580, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

Architecture
It equips a GPU Codenamed GP104-300-A1 which is a cut-down GTX 1080 Pascal GPU and has 19 SM activated, offering 2432 Shader Processing Units, 152 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1607MHz and goes up to 1683MHz in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 8GB frame buffer of Fast GDDR5 through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 2002MHz, 8GHz effective.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 180W, it requires at least a 500W PSU with one available 8-pin connector.

Performance
The GTX 1070 Ti is a high end performance GPU, capable of gaming at 1440p across all modern 2018 AAA games at high graphics settings and delivering 60+FPS.

First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. The new AMD Radeon RX 500 series are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This RX 580 8GB graphics card is one of the two more powerful models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.

This RX 580 is the 8GB version and there is also the lower VRAM version, RX580 4GB available.

Architecture
It equips a GPU codenamed Polaris 20 XTX, which has 2304 shader processing units, 144 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

The RX 580 8GB central processing unit runs at 1257MHz and goes up to 1340MHz when in boost and turbo mode.

Early benchmarks indicate that the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB will be similar in performance to the Nvidia GTX 1060 in terms of gaming performance. This puts the RX 580 8GB about 8% faster than the model it replaced, the AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB. Comparing the RX 580 to RX 570 we see 1440p frame rates around 8-15% better with the RX580 version
