In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Intel HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) are massively better than the AMD Radeon HD 6290.
The Radeon HD 6290 has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed and 4 more Texture Mapping Units than the Graphics Mobile. This results in the Radeon HD 6290 providing 2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The Radeon HD 6290 has a 100 MHz higher core clock speed and 2 more Render Output Units than the Graphics Mobile. This results in the Radeon HD 6290 providing 1 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The Graphics Mobile was released over three years more recently than the Radeon HD 6290, and so the Graphics Mobile is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Radeon HD 6290 when running the latest games.
The HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) and the Radeon HD 6290 have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.
The memory bandwidth of the HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) and the Radeon HD 6290 are the same, which means the Graphics Mobile and the Radeon HD 6290 have equal limitations when it comes to graphical data transfer.
The HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) has 12 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 6290 has 80. However, the actual shader performance of the Graphics Mobile is 10 and the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 6290 is 21. The Radeon HD 6290 having 11 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Graphics Mobile performs better when taking into account other relevant data.
The Graphics Mobile transistor size technology is 18 nm (nanometers) smaller than the Radeon HD 6290. This means that the Graphics Mobile is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the Radeon HD 6290.
The HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) requires 4 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 6290 requires 9 Watts. The Radeon HD 6290 requires 5 Watts more than the Graphics Mobile to run. The difference is not significant enough for the Radeon HD 6290 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the Graphics Mobile.

Mini Review | Intel HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) are integrated graphics in the budget Celeron and Pentium Broadwell Mobile processors. Their performance depends on the processor they are integrated on, as the latter defines the Base and Boost Clock, as well as on the SYSTEM RAM, which defines the operating memory clock, and whether the GPU accesses a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. Best case scenario, the Intel HD Graphics Mobile (Broadwell) performs on par with Intel HD 4000 Graphics and so most modern demanding games will not be playable. Less graphically intense games will be playable at lower graphics settings. | Radeon HD 6290 is an integrated GPU in one of the Zacate Processors, based on the 40nm Terrascale 2 architecture. It's based on the Cedar Core (therefore related to Radeon HD 6350) and offers 80 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. Both the operating memory clock's speed and bus width will depend on the system's RAM configuration and speed. Its central clock runs at up to 400MHz. Its performance is very limited and so today's modern games can only be played using very low resolutions such as 800x680 - 1024x768 or are unplayable at all. |
