In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SLI are massively better than the AMD Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR Black 8GB.

The RTX 2080 Ti has a 93 MHz higher core clock speed and 128 more Texture Mapping Units than the RX 580. This results in the RTX 2080 Ti providing 186.2 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The RTX 2080 Ti has a 93 MHz higher core clock speed and 56 more Render Output Units than the RX 580. This results in the RTX 2080 Ti providing 78.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2080 Ti was released over a year more recently than the RX 580, and so the RTX 2080 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the RX 580.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2080 Ti having 3833 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2080 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RX 580.

The RTX 2080 Ti transistor size technology is 2 nm (nanometers) smaller than the RX 580. This means that the RTX 2080 Ti is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the RX 580.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SLI requires 260 Watts to run and the Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR Black 8GB requires 150 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 650 Watts for the RTX 2080 Ti and a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the RX 580. The RTX 2080 Ti requires 110 Watts more than the RX 580 to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2080 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RX 580.

Mini ReviewOverview GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is the top RTX 20 Series graphics card and considered an Enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing architecture. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed TU102 which has 4352 Shader Processing Units, 272 TMUs and 88 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1350MHz and goes up to 1545MHz in Boost mode. It also has 544 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. Memory The GPU accesses an 11GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 352-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 285W, it requires at least a 650W PSU with two 8-pin power connectors. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a top-End Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.Overview
First off we should point out that this is not the new AMD Vega graphics card line. The new AMD Radeon RX 500 series are an uprated version of the RX 400 series that they are replacing. This XFX RX 580 GTR Black Edition graphics card is one of the two more powerful models from the new AMD Radeon RX 500 Series.

This RX 580 is the 8GB version and there is also the lower VRAM version, RX580 4GB available.

Architecture
It equips a GPU codenamed Polaris 20 XTX, which has 2304 shader processing units, 144 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

The Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR Black 8GB central processing unit runs at 1257MHz and goes up to a top 1425MHz when in boost and turbo mode with the reference RX 580 card's boost is 1340MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 8GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock operates at 2000MHz.

Power Consumption
The RX 580 8GB has a power TDP requirement of 150W. This means it will require at least a 500W PSU with one dedicated 8-pin connector.

Performance
Early benchmarks indicate that the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB will be similar in performance to the Nvidia GTX 1060 in terms of gaming performance. This puts the RX 580 8GB about 8% faster than the model it replaced, the AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB. Comparing the RX 580 to RX 570 we see 1440p frame rates around 8-15% better with the RX580 version

System Suggestions
The new XFX RX 580 GTR Black 8GB released on the 18th April 2017 and is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a high-end processor, like the new Ryzen R5 and at least 8GB of RAM for optimal gaming performance.
