Gaming Performance Comparison

Recommended System Requirements
Game GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SLI GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition

In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SLI are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition.

The RTX 2080 Ti has a 800 MHz higher core clock speed and 216 more Texture Mapping Units than the 9800 GT. This results in the RTX 2080 Ti providing 336.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The RTX 2080 Ti has a 800 MHz higher core clock speed and 72 more Render Output Units than the 9800 GT. This results in the RTX 2080 Ti providing 110 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2080 Ti was released over three years more recently than the 9800 GT, and so the RTX 2080 Ti is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the 9800 GT when running the latest games.

The RTX 2080 Ti has 10752 MB more video memory than the 9800 GT, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2080 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2080 Ti has 558.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the 9800 GT, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2080 Ti is massively better than the 9800 GT.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SLI has 4352 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition has 112. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2080 Ti is 7116 and the actual shader performance of the 9800 GT is 154. The RTX 2080 Ti having 6962 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2080 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the 9800 GT.

The RTX 2080 Ti transistor size technology is 53 nm (nanometers) smaller than the 9800 GT. This means that the RTX 2080 Ti is expected to run massively cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the 9800 GT.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SLI requires 260 Watts to run and the GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 650 Watts for the RTX 2080 Ti and a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the 9800 GT. The RTX 2080 Ti requires 185 Watts more than the 9800 GT to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2080 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the 9800 GT.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is the top RTX 20 Series graphics card and considered an Enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing architecture. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed TU102 which has 4352 Shader Processing Units, 272 TMUs and 88 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1350MHz and goes up to 1545MHz in Boost mode. It also has 544 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. Memory The GPU accesses an 11GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 352-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 285W, it requires at least a 650W PSU with two 8-pin power connectors. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a top-End Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition is a tweaked GeForce 9800 GT optimized for power saving. With reduced clocks its performance is much worse than its default version but consumes only a maximum of 75 Watts. <\br> The core-clock was reduced from 600MHz to 550MHz. The Shaders clock was probably reduced too.
There are no benchmarks available but it's clear to say GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition's is somewhere between GeForce 8800 GTS and GeForce 8800 GT.
