In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac AMP!.
The GTX 1070 has a 227 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080, but the RTX 2080 has 64 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1070. As a result, the RTX 2080 exhibits a 61.1 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1070. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 1070 has a 227 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 1070 providing 14.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RTX 2080 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 1070, and so the RTX 2080 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 1070.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile and the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac AMP! have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.
The RTX 2080 has 191.7 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 1070, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2080 is massively better than the GTX 1070.
The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile has 2944 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac AMP! has 1920. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2080 is 4681 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1070 is 4658. The RTX 2080 having 23 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2080 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 1070.
The RTX 2080 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1070. This means that the RTX 2080 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1070.
The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile requires 150 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac AMP! requires 220 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the GTX 1070, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2080. The GTX 1070 requires 70 Watts more than the RTX 2080 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1070 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2080.

Mini Review | Overview The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile card is the top RTX 20 Series graphics card for laptops and considered an enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing GPU architecture. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 46 SM activated, offering 2944 Shader Processing Units, 184 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 368 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU104 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2080 Mobility is clocked lower than the desktop variant, caused decreased performances. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1380 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1590 MHz. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-150W the RTX 2080 Mobile is fairly power hungry and will significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GRTX 2080Mobile is best suited for resolutions all the way up to 3840x2160. We recommend a high-end processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. | Overview The GTX 1070 AMP! is a Special Edition GTX 1070 high end graphics card by Zotac based on the Nvidia Pascal Architecture.
