In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB.

The GTX 1050 Ti has a 12 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080, but the RTX 2080 has 136 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1050 Ti. As a result, the RTX 2080 exhibits a 187.1 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1050 Ti. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1050 Ti has a 12 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080, but the RTX 2080 has 32 more Render Output Units than the GTX 1050 Ti. As a result, the RTX 2080 exhibits a 43.8 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 1050 Ti. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2080 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 1050 Ti, and so the RTX 2080 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 1050 Ti.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2080 has 4096 MB more video memory than the GTX 1050 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2080 also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2080 has 335.9 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 1050 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2080 is massively better than the GTX 1050 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile has 2944 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB has 768. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2080 is 4681 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1050 Ti is 1561. The RTX 2080 having 3120 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2080 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 1050 Ti.

The RTX 2080 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1050 Ti. This means that the RTX 2080 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1050 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile requires 150 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1050 Ti, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2080. The RTX 2080 requires 75 Watts more than the GTX 1050 Ti to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2080 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 1050 Ti.

Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 46 SM activated, offering 2944 Shader Processing Units, 184 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 368 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming by Gigabyte is currently their highest clocked version of Nvidia's lower end graphics card the GTX 1050 Ti. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features everything gigabyte has to offer, RGB lights, their highest overclock, a back plate, the Windforce 2X cooling system and 2 extra HDMI ports.

The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1392MHz and goes up to 1506MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in OC mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it require a 6-pin power connector, the price (apart from the actual price) of all it's added features.

Performance
The GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 60+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960
