In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB.

The GTX 1050 Ti has a 101 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 96 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1050 Ti. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 111.8 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1050 Ti. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1050 Ti has a 101 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 32 more Render Output Units than the GTX 1050 Ti. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 35.7 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 1050 Ti. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2070 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 1050 Ti, and so the RTX 2070 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 1050 Ti.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2070 has 4096 MB more video memory than the GTX 1050 Ti, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2070 also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2070 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1050 Ti. This means that the RTX 2070 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1050 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile requires 115 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte D5 4GB requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1050 Ti, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2070. The RTX 2070 requires 40 Watts more than the GTX 1050 Ti to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2070 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 1050 Ti.

Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU106 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 36 SM activated, offering 2304 Shader Processing Units, 144 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 288 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU106 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2070 Mobility is clocked lower than the desktop variant, caused decreased performances. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1215 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1440 MHz. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz. The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.
