Gaming Performance Comparison

Recommended System Requirements
Game GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti are noticeably better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile.

The GTX 1080 Ti has a 520 MHz higher core clock speed and 104 more Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2060. This results in the GTX 1080 Ti providing 216.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1080 Ti has a 520 MHz higher core clock speed and 41 more Render Output Units than the RTX 2060. This results in the GTX 1080 Ti providing 85.1 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2060 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 1080 Ti, and so the RTX 2060 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 1080 Ti.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The GTX 1080 Ti has 5120 MB more video memory than the RTX 2060, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 1080 Ti also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 1080 Ti has 196.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RTX 2060, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is massively better than the RTX 2060.

The GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile has 1920 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has 3584. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2060 is 2304 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1080 Ti is 7654. The GTX 1080 Ti having 5350 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 1080 Ti delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RTX 2060.

The RTX 2060 transistor size technology is 4 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti. This means that the RTX 2060 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1080 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile requires 90 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti requires 220 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 600 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2060. The GTX 1080 Ti requires 130 Watts more than the RTX 2060 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 1080 Ti may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2060.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile is a mid-range GeForce 20 Series graphics card for laptops based on the Turing GPU architecture. It is considered a great price to performance graphics card. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. The GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile supports real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p screen resolution. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106 which has 1920 Shader Processing Units, 120 TMUs and 47 ROPs. The central unit runs at 960 MHz and goes up to 1200 MHz in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1500MHz, or 14GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-90W the RTX 2060 Mobile is averagely resource-intensive and will fairly significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2060 6GB Mobile is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.Overview
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is the top 1000 Series graphics card and considered an Enthusiast graphics card based on the Pascal architecture.

Architecture
The Pascal architecture aims for twice as much Performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed P102-300-A1 which has 3584 Shader Processing Units, 224 TMUs and 88 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1480MHz and goes up to 1584MHz, in Boost mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 11.2GB frame buffer of second gen GDDR5X memory, through a 352-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1376MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 220W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with 2 power connectors, a 6-pin and an 8-pin connector.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a High-End Processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
