This is a triple-slot graphics card with Phantom fan design for silent acoustics, three 90mm fans, DrMOS tech, USB Type-C connectivity, and Gainward Expertool II fan curve control software. Architecture It equips a cut-down Turing GPU Codenamed TU106, more specifically the TU106-400A-A1 variant which means factory overclocks are permitted. This is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 16 SM activated, offering 2304 CUDA Shader Processing Units, 144 TMUs, and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing (RTX) technology. It is equipped with 288 Tensor Cores for AI purposes and 32 RT Cores for ray-tracing. GeForce GTX 980 4GB SLI is a solution of two GeForce GTX 980 4GB put together using NVIDIA's SLI technology.

Architecture
The Second variant of the Maxwell Architecture, despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, has an extremely large L2 Cache and features a Third Generation Delta Color Compression which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.
