In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition.
The GTX 1650 has a 475 MHz higher core clock speed but 24 fewer Texture Mapping Units than the HD 7870. The lower TMU count doesn't matter, though, as altogether the GTX 1650 manages to provide 2.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The GTX 1650 has a 475 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 7870 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GTX 1650 providing 15.2 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The GTX 1650 was released over three years more recently than the HD 7870, and so the GTX 1650 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the HD 7870 when running the latest games.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The GTX 1650 has 2048 MB more video memory than the HD 7870, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.
The HD 7870 has 26.8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 1650, which means that the memory performance of the HD 7870 is slightly better than the GTX 1650.
The GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB has 896 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition has 1280. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 1650 is 1667 and the actual shader performance of the HD 7870 is 1099. The GTX 1650 having 568 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 1650 delivers a significantly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 7870.
The GTX 1650 transistor size technology is 16 nm (nanometers) smaller than the HD 7870. This means that the GTX 1650 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the HD 7870.
The GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB requires 75 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon HD 7870 DirectCU II 2GB Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1650.

Mini Review | Overview The GeForce GTX 1650 is an Nvidia GeForce low-end graphics card which launched in April 2019. The GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB is designed to compete against AMD's more affordable gaming cards such as the RX 550 and the RX 560, and replaces the outgoing GTX 1050. This is a dual-slot graphics card which connects to the rest of the system using a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface. The GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB features a dual-fan cooling solution, Totem Armor, RGB lighting, One-Key Overclock, and a solid anti-bend backplate. This graphics card has good overclocking potential. Architecture The Turing Architecture aims for 30-50% as much performance as the previous-gen Pascal Architecture. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed Turing T117-400, more specifically a TU117-300-A1, which has 14 SM activated and thus 896 Shader Processing Units, 56 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1485 MHz and goes up to 1860 MHz with the Boost Clock, providing a large 12% overclock versus the reference model. Memory The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 2000 MHz (8GHz effective). Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 100W, an additional 6-pin power connector is required. It is recommended you have a 300W or greater Power Supply Unit (PSU). Performance The GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB will enable low to mid-level graphics performance on modern AAA 2019 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution. Comparatively, this card has slightly faster performance than the GTX 1050 Ti. System Suggestions The GeForce GTX 1650 Colorful iGame Ultra 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080, so our recommendation would be to use 19200x1080 in order to get the most out of your settings.
