In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte Gaming OC 3X White 8GB are significantly better than the AMD Radeon RX 5500 4GB.
The RX 5500 has a 200 MHz higher core clock speed but 8 fewer Texture Mapping Units than the RTX 2060. The lower TMU count doesn't matter, though, as altogether the RX 5500 manages to provide 13.9 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The RX 5500 has a 200 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2060, but the RTX 2060 has 32 more Render Output Units than the RX 5500. As a result, the RTX 2060 exhibits a 40.7 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the RX 5500. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RX 5500 was released less than a year after the RTX 2060, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The RTX 2060 has 4096 MB more video memory than the RX 5500, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2060 also has superior memory performance overall.
The RTX 2060 has 224 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RX 5500, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2060 is massively better than the RX 5500.
The Radeon RX 5500 4GB has 1408 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte Gaming OC 3X White 8GB has 2176. However, the actual shader performance of the RX 5500 is 1689 and the actual shader performance of the RTX 2060 is 3949. The RTX 2060 having 2260 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2060 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RX 5500.
The RX 5500 transistor size technology is 5 nm (nanometers) smaller than the RTX 2060. This means that the RX 5500 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the RTX 2060.
The Radeon RX 5500 4GB requires 110 Watts to run and the GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte Gaming OC 3X White 8GB requires 175 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the RX 5500 and a PSU with at least 550 Watts for the RTX 2060. The RTX 2060 requires 65 Watts more than the RX 5500 to run. The difference is significant enough that the RTX 2060 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RX 5500.

Mini Review | Overview The Radeon RX 5500 4GB is an entry-level graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000 series, announced on October 7th, 2019. Architecture It is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 1408 shader processing units, [xx] TMUs and [xx]] ROPs. GPU The central unit runs at 1670 MHz and goes up to 1845 MHz when the boost mode is triggered. Memory The RX 5500 4GB comes with a 4GB frame buffer of GDDR6 video memory through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 1750MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 110W, it requires at least a 500W PSU with one available 8-pin connector. Performance The Radeon RX 5500 4GB been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2019. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2019 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this RX 5500 4GB card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps. System Suggestions The Radeon RX 5500 4GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range R5 Ryzen processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 5500 4GB. | Overview The GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte Gaming OC 3X White 8GB is a mid to high-range GeForce 20 Series graphics card and considered a great price to performance graphics card based on the Turing architecture. This is the 'Super' variant of the RTX 2060 and utilises a cut-down version of the RTX 2070 GPU. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. The GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte Gaming OC 3X White 8GB supports real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p and 1440p screen resolutions. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106-410-A which has 2176 Shader Processing Units, 136 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1470 MHz and goes up to 1815 MHz in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective. This provides total memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 160W, it requires at least a 550W PSU with an 8-pin power connector. System Suggestions The GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte Gaming OC 3X White 8GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a mid-range Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. |
