In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB.

The GTX 1050 has a 364 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080, but the RTX 2080 has 144 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1050. As a result, the RTX 2080 exhibits a 128 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1050. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1050 has a 364 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2080, but the RTX 2080 has 32 more Render Output Units than the GTX 1050. As a result, the RTX 2080 exhibits a 20.1 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 1050. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2080 was released over three years more recently than the GTX 1050, and so the RTX 2080 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GTX 1050 when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2080 has 6144 MB more video memory than the GTX 1050, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2080 also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2080 has 271.9 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 1050, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2080 is massively better than the GTX 1050.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W has 2944 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB has 640. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2080 is 3621 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 1050 is 1257. The RTX 2080 having 2364 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2080 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 1050.

The RTX 2080 transistor size technology is 2 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1050. This means that the RTX 2080 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1050.

The GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W requires 90 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1050, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2080. The RTX 2080 requires 15 Watts more than the GTX 1050 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the RTX 2080 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GTX 1050.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview The GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W is a High-End laptop Graphics Card based on the Turing Architecture. As a Max-Q graphics card it is ideally suited for thin gaming laptops. However, this does impact performance. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 N18E-G3-A1 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 20 SM activated, offering 2944 Shader Processing Units, 184 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 368 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU Name: TU104-400A-A1 GPU The central unit runs at 990MHz and goes up to 1230MHz in Turbo Mode. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of Second Gen GDDR6 through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 1500MHz, or 12GHz effective. Total memory bandwidth is 384 Gb/s. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 90W, the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W is fairly power hungry for a laptop graphics processor. It runs around 15% faster than the 80W model. Performance Performance of the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W falls a long way short of the desktop GeForce RTX 2080. However, the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q is still a decently fast mobile graphics card which offers performance on par with a desktop GeForce GTX 1070. System Suggestions GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q 90W is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560 x 1440. We recommend a High-End Processor and 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.Overview
The latest GeForce GTX 1050 Inno 3D edition is a small form factor version of Nvidia's lower end graphics card, designed to compete against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the RX 460 or RX 470 and expected to replace the outgoing GTX 960. it features Inno3D's iChill cooling system.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and Introduces support for Second Gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GP107-400 which has 5 SM activated and thus 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1354MHz and goes up to 1455MHz with the Boost Clock.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock Operates at 3504MHz which is outstanding.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
This card will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will have slightly faster performance than the GTX 960.

System Suggestions
The GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D edition is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080, so our recommendation would be to use 1600x900 in order to get the most out of your settings. We recommend a high-end processor such as the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for optimal performance.
