In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB.

The GTX 1050 has a 469 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 144 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1050. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 108.6 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1050. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1050 has a 469 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 32 more Render Output Units than the GTX 1050. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 13.3 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 1050. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2070 was released over three years more recently than the GTX 1050, and so the RTX 2070 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GTX 1050 when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2070 has 6144 MB more video memory than the GTX 1050, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2070 also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2070 having 1473 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2070 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 1050.

The RTX 2070 transistor size technology is 2 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1050. This means that the RTX 2070 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1050.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q requires 80 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1050, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2070. The RTX 2070 requires 5 Watts more than the GTX 1050 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the RTX 2070 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the GTX 1050.

However, this does impact performance. The latest GeForce GTX 1050 Inno 3D edition is a small form factor version of Nvidia's lower end graphics card, designed to compete against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the RX 460 or RX 470 and expected to replace the outgoing GTX 960. it features Inno3D's iChill cooling system.

Performance
This card will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will have slightly faster performance than the GTX 960.

System Suggestions
The GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D edition is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080, so our recommendation would be to use 1600x900 in order to get the most out of your settings. We recommend a high-end processor such as the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for optimal performance.
