In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB.

The GTX 1050 has a 379 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2060, but the RTX 2060 has 80 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 1050. As a result, the RTX 2060 exhibits a 62.8 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 1050. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 1050 has a 379 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2060, but the RTX 2060 has 16 more Render Output Units than the GTX 1050. As a result, the RTX 2060 exhibits a 3.5 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 1050. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The RTX 2060 was released over three years more recently than the GTX 1050, and so the RTX 2060 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the GTX 1050 when running the latest games.

Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.

The RTX 2060 has 4096 MB more video memory than the GTX 1050, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2060 also has superior memory performance overall.

The RTX 2060 transistor size technology is 2 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 1050. This means that the RTX 2060 is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 1050.

The GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q requires 65 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 1050 Inno3D 2GB requires 75 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 1050, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2060. The GTX 1050 requires 10 Watts more than the RTX 2060 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GTX 1050 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the RTX 2060.

Mini ReviewOverview GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q is the low-power variant of the RTX 2060 Mobile and is a mid-range GeForce 20 Series graphics card for laptops based on the Turing GPU architecture. It is considered a great price to performance graphics card. Architecture The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. The GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q supports real-time ray-tracing and excels at 1080p screen resolution. GPU It equips a Turing GPU codenamed TU106 which has 1920 Shader Processing Units, 120 TMUs and 48 ROPs. The central unit runs at 975 MHz and goes up to 1185 MHz in Boost mode. Memory The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1375MHz, or 11GHz effective. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 65W the RTX 2060 Max-Q is averagely resource-intensive and will fairly significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load.
