In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT MSI Gaming 6GB.
The RX 5600 XT has a 45 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070, but the RTX 2070 has 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the RX 5600 XT. As a result, the RTX 2070 exhibits a 11.8 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the RX 5600 XT. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The RX 5600 XT has a 45 MHz higher core clock speed than the RTX 2070 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the RX 5600 XT providing 2.8 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The RTX 2070 was released less than a year after the RX 5600 XT, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.
Both GPUs exhibit very powerful performance, so it probably isn't worth upgrading from one to the other, as both are capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings.
The RTX 2070 has 2048 MB more video memory than the RX 5600 XT, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the RTX 2070 also has superior memory performance overall.
The RTX 2070 has 160 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the RX 5600 XT, which means that the memory performance of the RTX 2070 is massively better than the RX 5600 XT.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile has 2560 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon RX 5600 XT MSI Gaming 6GB has 2304. However, the actual shader performance of the RTX 2070 is 3533 and the actual shader performance of the RX 5600 XT is 2396. The RTX 2070 having 1137 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the RTX 2070 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the RX 5600 XT.
The RX 5600 XT transistor size technology is 5 nm (nanometers) smaller than the RTX 2070. This means that the RX 5600 XT is expected to run very slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the RTX 2070.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile requires 115 Watts to run and the Radeon RX 5600 XT MSI Gaming 6GB requires 150 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 550 Watts for the RX 5600 XT, but we do not have a recommended PSU wattage for the RTX 2070. The RX 5600 XT requires 35 Watts more than the RTX 2070 to run. The difference is significant enough that the RX 5600 XT may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the RTX 2070.

Mini Review | Overview The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobile card is a high-end RTX 20 Series graphics card for laptops and considered an enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing GPU architecture. Architecture It equips a Turing GPU Codenamed TU104 which is a First Gen Turing GPU and has 40 SM activated, offering 2560 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX. It also has 320 Tensor Cores for AI purposes. GPU The TU106 GPU used in the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Mobility is clocked lower than the desktop variant, leading to a slight reduction in game performance. The standard model has a base clock speed of 1605 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1770 MHz. Memory The GPU accesses an 8GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 256-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80-115W the RTX 2070 Super Mobile is fairly power hungry and will significantly reduce laptop battery life at full load. System Suggestions GeForce GRTX 2070 Super Mobile is capable of resolutions all the way up to 4K (3840x2160) but is best suited for 1440p displays. We recommend a high-end processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance. | Overview The AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT MSI Gaming 6GB is an mid-tier gaming Graphics Card based on the first (1.0) Revision of the RDNA Architecture. Architecture The Navi 10 XL GPU offers support for GDDR6 Memory, DirectX 12.0, Vulkan 1.0, and OpenGL 4.5. GPU This variant of the Navi 10 XL GPU features 36 Compute Units activated, offering 2304 Shader Processing Units, 144 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The GPU features a 1375 MHz base clock speed and up to 1560 MHz with boost clock, making it an estimated 20% slower than a Radeon RX 5700 8GB. This puts its predicted performance at roughly 20% faster than a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Memory: Speed The GPU is equipped with 6GB high-speed GDDR6 and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 192-bit memory interface, providing total memory bandwidth of 288 GB/s. Memory: Frame Buffer The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 6GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory. However, the GPU itself is aimed for 1080p Gaming. In some limited scenarios at 1440p resolution, 6GB video memory might be a bottleneck and Performance could be better were the Frame Buffer larger, however this would only be an issue in the most demanding games. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 150W, it requires at least a 550W PSU with available 8+8-pin connector. Performance AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB competes with GeForce GTX 1660 Ti which is available for $329. System Suggestions The Radeon RX 5600 XT MSI Gaming 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2650 x 1480 but is ideally suited for 1920 x 1080. For the most demanding AAA games it should be ideally suited to 1080p. We recommend a mid-tier CPU and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance. |
