I've got one of those brand new about 3 years ago. After few months of very light usage (it wasn't the OS drive) it died on me. I think total write/read count was less than 8TB. That was the last Seagate hdd/ssd/hssd I've ever owned.

I've had one since 2013, still going strong with no problems. LOTS of data has been written/erased from it, I'm not a light user. I'd recommend it for sure!

I recently upgraded to this HDD from my old 250GB ST3250310AS. Apparently it's almost three times faster and a lot quieter; 200mb/150mb RW speeds and that's on SATA2. Great performance for an equally great price.

Very strange, apperantly this is better than Seagate's new 2TB SSHD? Are you serious? What's it better at that counts? Power is my last problem, between 3W and 5W, I don't care, it's not a factor.

GD has not updated its SSHD (Hybrid) database yet…

I've seen a lot of people complaining about the SSHD's. Apparently that technology is already obsolete - was meant to be a middle ground between cheap/capacious HDD's and blazing fast but expensive/small SSD's. Boost is around 5% compared to standard HDD's, not really worth the higher price.

That is false. Where did you get the 5% from? It is in fact 2x faster at loading with boot times exactly matching SSD's…

The ST1000DX001 SSHD with 8GB of built-in flash memory is only about 5% faster in all-around use. 8Gb's isn't enough to warrant a comparable boost. Seagate's Adaptive Memory has issues with file caching. It's very loud as well. With current SSD price drops, there's no reason for SSHD to exist anymore.

It does allow the system to boot a lot faster, but don't expect it's average every day performance to even partially match any of the SSD's.

I don't understand why this HDD is rated 3% better than my 3TB Western Digital Black edition. :S

Because on the same performance is more energy save.
