How well can the Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 11.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2019 popular games. This short Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 287.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We predict that Microsoft Flight Simulator will get 0 FPS with the Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition, The Outer Worlds getting 39 FPS and Red Dead Redemption 2 getting 26 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

We move on to 1440p, and predict that Microsoft Flight Simulator will deliver weak FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. Next we have The Outer Worlds running on Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition which gets L: 78FPS, M: 61FPS, H: 41FPS, U: 29FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Red Dead Redemption 2 gets L: 52FPS, M: 41FPS, H: 28FPS, U: 20FPS at 1440p. 1440p Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition PC gaming is going to struggle to keep a solid FPS, but a modern game could have a few options tweaked to get it playable at this res but on low graphics settings.

How many years will the Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition? A great upgrade graphics card would be a 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, which has 98% better performance and can run 899 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, which has 46% better performance and can run 672 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

this Graphics card was designed for overlclocking, that's why the TDP is high. the voltage unlocked, the cooling, all designed with overclockers in mind, so they recommend a higher TDP for a safer overclock.
