How well can the GeForce GTX 680 SLI run games
15 Sep 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

Gamers upgrading will be considering the GeForce GTX 680 SLI graphics card as a serious price to performance entry point. This card will meet and play most demanding AAA games and do so with good graphics setting as standard, and confidently pushing past the recommended game system requirements needed to run today’s games. GeForce GTX 680 SLI is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 680 SLI is at running the more popular games of 2020. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. This graphics hardware can run 502 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the GeForce GTX 680 SLI is predicted to run Grand Theft Auto VI with playable performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 27 frames per second. Comparing this to Marvel's Avengers which is getting reasonable results, where it averages 48 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is running at 48 frames per second.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we researched the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI to predict how the GeForce GTX 680 SLI would deal with it. Our research revealed a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 53 FPS, Medium: 42 FPS, High: 28 FPS and Ultra: 20 FPS. Next we looked at Marvel's Avengers which was playable with a 36 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Horizon: Zero Dawn that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 36. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 680 SLI is a reasonable choice at this screen size. You can always tweak modern game graphics settings to help you get a better High graphics setting experience at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 680 SLI graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 680 SLI in your PC? This GeForce GTX 680 SLI card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

GeForce GTX 680 SLI Game Requirement Analysis

GeForce GTX 680 SLI is a solution of two GeForce GTX 680 put together using NVIDIA'S SLI technology.
Check the page of GeForce GTX 680 to know more about its chip.
As usual, SLI relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, is up to around 60% better than a single GeForce GTX 680 performing by itself but at times (depending whether or not the 3D game supports SLI or in the graphics driver) it performed worse than a single GeForce GTX 680. Expect this combination to draw up to 390 Watt though the average power consumption should be slightly lower.
Even the most demanding games will run at the highest settings.
