How well can the GeForce GTX 680 SLI run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 SLI
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

A mid to low level graphics card, the GeForce GTX 680 SLI is found in budget machines nowadays, struggling to meet AAA system requirements.

GeForce GTX 680 SLI is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

Lets look at the GeForce GTX 680 SLI game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2023. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. In terms of performance against the most demanding games today this graphics card can play 445 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 680 SLI performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Forza Horizon 5 and saw it deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 84 FPS, Medium: 67 FPS, High: 45 FPS and Ultra: 32 FPS. We proceeded to look at Battlefield 2042 to see how that compared and saw that it returned a weak 15 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 680 SLI at 1440p with Forza Horizon 5, which got a weak set of FPS results. These were, Low: 64 FPS, Medium: 51 FPS, High: 34 FPS and Ultra: 24 FPS. We then checked out Battlefield 2042 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 29FPS, M: 23FPS, H: 15FPS, U: 11FPS. And another popular game was Dying Light 2 that returned L: 53FPS, M: 42FPS, H: 28FPS, U: 20FPS at 1440p. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 680 SLI is in need of some graphics adjustments to get some stability, which means its not an ideal gaming resolution for this GPU.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 680 SLI graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 680 SLI in your PC? This GeForce GTX 680 SLI card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 680 SLI? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce GTX 680 SLI.

GeForce GTX 680 SLI Game Requirement Analysis

GeForce GTX 680 SLI is a solution of two GeForce GTX 680 put together using NVIDIA'S SLI technology.
Check the page of GeForce GTX 680 to know more about its chip.
As usual, SLI relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, is up to around 60% better than a single GeForce GTX 680 performing by itself but at times (depending whether or not the 3D game supports SLI or in the graphics driver) it performed worse than a single GeForce GTX 680. Expect this combination to draw up to 390 Watt though the average power consumption should be slightly lower.
Even the most demanding games will run at the highest settings.
