How well can the GeForce GT 710 run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Based on current gaming requirements the GeForce GT 710 is considered one of the weakest cards and wont meet modern AAA game specs. GeForce GT 710 is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

How many years will the GeForce GT 710 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GT 710 in your PC? You should definitely consider replacing this GeForce GT 710 graphics card, if it is still in your gaming PC.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GT 710? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 2509% better and can run 897 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. Alternatively upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which is 1817% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 667 games from the most demanding games today.

GeForce GT 710 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GT 710 is an Entry-Level Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GF119-300-A1 which has 1 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 48 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 810MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 898MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 30W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
GeForce GT 710 is a direct rebrand of GeForce GT 620 v2.
Gaming benchmarks put its performance somewhat below Radeon HD 6450.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Pentium G) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 710.

The 710M is better but there is no way you could run Metro 2033 on medium with either one.

Apparently my GFX is 5% better than the 710m and I play Metro 2033 fine on medium. There are plenty of cheap laptops around though with a 630m or equivalent, go for one of them instead…
