How well can the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire run games
26 Jan 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p. Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2020. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 340.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire is predicted to run Grand Theft Auto VI with weak performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 10 frames per second. Comparing this to Red Dead Redemption 2 which is getting playable results, where it averages 41 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Doom Eternal, which is predicted to run at 49 frames per second.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire at 1440p and researched how Grand Theft Auto VI might perform on it leading us to predict a weak set of FPS results. These were, Low: 19 FPS, Medium: 15 FPS, High: 10 FPS and Ultra: 7 FPS. We then checked out Red Dead Redemption 2 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 83FPS, M: 65FPS, H: 44FPS, U: 31FPS. And another popular game was Doom Eternal with predictions of L: 99FPS, M: 78FPS, H: 52FPS, U: 37FPS at 1440p. After a look at the popular games running at 1440p with the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire, this is ok at playing most games but might need to have the graphics settings lowered to medium preset in some cases.

How many years will the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire in your PC? This Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 59% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 879 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively we would suggest getting a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, as it can run 745 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today with 25% increased graphics performance.

Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire Game Requirement Analysis

Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire is a solution of two Radeon HD 7950 put together using AMD'S Crossfire technology.
Check the page of Radeon HD 7950 to know more about its chip.
Crossfire relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, is up to 42% better than a single Radeon HD 7950 performing by itself it might be worse (depending on whether or not the 3D game supports crossfire or in the graphics driver) than a single Radeon HD 7950. Expect this combination to draw up to 360 Watt though the average power consumption should be slightly lower.
Even the most demanding games will run at the highest settings.
