How well can the Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire run games
12 Jan 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 11 requirement.

Game performance for the Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire where we look at the bigger games played in 2020. Looking closely at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 269 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire shows us that Halo: Reach is getting a strong result of 115 FPS, and then we are seeing Cyberpunk 2077 predicted to return a weak 2 FPS while another game on our list is the Fortnite: Chapter 2 which is getting 75 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we researched the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 to predict how the Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire would deal with it. Our research revealed a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 3 FPS, Medium: 2 FPS, High: 2 FPS and Ultra: 1 FPS. Next we looked at Fortnite: Chapter 2 which was reasonable with a 57 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Halo: Reach that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 87. 1440p Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire PC gaming is a good choice of hardware for increased screen resolution gaming. We can see this graphics card is capable of delivering reliable frame rates at Ultra and certainly High graphics settings at 1440p.

How many years will the Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire Game Requirement Analysis

Radeon R9 M290X Crossfire is a solution of two Radeon R9 M290X put together using AMD'S Crossfire technology.
Check the page of Radeon R9 M290X to know more about its chip.
Crossfire relies a lot on proper driver support and may suffer from micro-stuttering in lower frame rates (below 30). Benchmarks indicate the performance is overall, is up to twice as better as a single Radeon R9 M290X performing by itself but at times (depending whether or not the 3D game supports crossfire or in the graphics driver) it performed worse than a single Radeon R9 M290X.
Even the most demanding games will run at the highest settings.
