While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the GeForce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

What FPS performance can the GeForce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition get on latest AAA 2023 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. In terms of performance against the most demanding games today this graphics card can play 737 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Resident Evil 8 and saw it deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 102 FPS, Medium: 80 FPS, High: 54 FPS and Ultra: 39 FPS. We proceeded to look at Days Gone to see how that compared and saw that it returned a reasonable 53 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition at 1440p with Resident Evil 8, which got a playable set of FPS results. These were, Low: 78 FPS, Medium: 61 FPS, High: 41 FPS and Ultra: 29 FPS. We then checked out Days Gone which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 107FPS, M: 84FPS, H: 57FPS, U: 40FPS. And another popular game was Star Citizen with predictions of L: 121FPS, M: 95FPS, H: 64FPS, U: 46FPS at 1440p. 1440p gaming on the GeForce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition is a reasonable performance fit for this resolution.
