How well can the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2022. The GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 604 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

Running at 1080p this card gets a reasonable frame rate from Back 4 Blood with 56 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Days Gone which returns a reasonable 50 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Far Cry 6 which we saw getting a playable 28 FPS.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition at 1440p with Back 4 Blood, which got a playable set of FPS results. These were, Low: 113 FPS, Medium: 89 FPS, High: 60 FPS and Ultra: 43 FPS. We then checked out Days Gone which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 100FPS, M: 79FPS, H: 53FPS, U: 38FPS. And another popular game was Far Cry 6 that returned L: 55FPS, M: 44FPS, H: 29FPS, U: 21FPS at 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition is a reasonable performance fit for this resolution. Some of the more resource intensive games may well need a few graphical tweak to get the most out of the graphics card at this increased resolution.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition in your PC? There is still 2 years of top end gaming left in this GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce GTX 980 Zotac 4GB Edition.
