10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

A mid to low level graphics card, the GeForce GTX 970 EVGA SSC ACX 2.0 4GB Edition is found in budget machines nowadays, struggling to meet AAA system requirements.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2023 popular games. This short GeForce GTX 970 EVGA SSC ACX 2.0 4GB Edition game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 443.

Running at 1080p this card gets a playable frame rate from Resident Evil 8 with 32 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at FIFA 22 which returns a strong 83 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Back 4 Blood which we saw getting a reasonable 54 FPS.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 970 EVGA SSC ACX 2.0 4GB Edition at 1440p with Resident Evil 8, which got a weak set of FPS results. These were, Low: 63 FPS, Medium: 50 FPS, High: 34 FPS and Ultra: 24 FPS. We then checked out FIFA 22 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 166FPS, M: 131FPS, H: 88FPS, U: 63FPS. And another popular game was Back 4 Blood that returned L: 108FPS, M: 85FPS, H: 57FPS, U: 41FPS at 1440p. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 970 EVGA SSC ACX 2.0 4GB Edition running at 1440p is a reliable performer at this larger resolution for modern games. The graphics card will be good to run 1440p on Ultra or High settings.
