10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

A mid to low level graphics card, the GeForce GTX 970 Galax HOF 4GB Edition is found in budget machines nowadays, struggling to meet AAA system requirements.

GeForce GTX 970 Galax HOF 4GB Edition is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 970 Galax HOF 4GB Edition is at running the more popular games of 2023. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. This graphics hardware can run 445 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

A GeForce GTX 970 Galax HOF 4GB Edition card at 1080p is seeing a playable frame rate when running Resident Evil 8 on Ultra - 32 FPS. Lets look at the performance its getting on Back 4 Blood which is 54 FPS. To add a bit more variety lets see how the popular Forza Horizon 5 performs on this hardware, which gets a playable 32 FPS.

With PC gamers looking for larger screen sizes like 1440p we tested the GeForce GTX 970 Galax HOF 4GB Edition by playing Resident Evil 8 which yielded a weak performance. Its FPS results for the graphics settings are as follows - L: 64FPS, M: 51FPS, H: 34FPS, U: 24FPS. Another popular game we tested with this card was Back 4 Blood and that was playable. This graphics card delivered 41 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Another popular title was Forza Horizon 5 which gets weak results with a 24FPS on Ultra 1440p. 1440p gaming on the GeForce GTX 970 Galax HOF 4GB Edition is not a bad choice for a larger screen size like this. Some games will struggle though, but with some careful graphic option adjustments in-game you can normally find a suitable visual experience with this GPU at 1440p.
