GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB Game Requirement Analysis
Overview
GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first variant of the Maxwell architecture.
Architecture
The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.
GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM107 which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs.
Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 1253MHz. The size of the frame buffer is adequate.
Features
DirectX 12 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies.
Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 45W, it may be equipped in average sized notebooks.
Performance
GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB is considerably faster than GeForce GTX 850M 2GB, especially on higher resolutions, thanks to the fast GDDR5.
It thus offers decent gaming at 1920x1080 and most modern games should run fluently at high settings.
System Suggestions
We recommend a Strong Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a notebook with GeForce GTX 850M v2 2GB.
