How well can the Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire run games
25 Mar 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p. All games with system requirements of DirectX 11 or lower are met by this card.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2020 popular games. This short Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. 306 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Half-Life: Alyx and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 37 FPS, Medium: 29 FPS, High: 20 FPS and Ultra: 14 FPS. We proceeded to look at Ori and the Will of the Wisps to see how that compared and saw that it returned a reasonable 48 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire at 1440p with Half-Life: Alyx, which got a weak set of FPS results. These were, Low: 28 FPS, Medium: 22 FPS, High: 15 FPS and Ultra: 11 FPS. We then checked out Ori and the Will of the Wisps which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 97FPS, M: 76FPS, H: 51FPS, U: 37FPS. And another popular game was Black Mesa that returned L: 104FPS, M: 82FPS, H: 55FPS, U: 39FPS at 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition Crossfire is certainly a viable option for these higher gaming resolutions. Remember that if you suffer some 1440p FPS drops the you can usually tweak modern game graphics settings until you get a near High graphics setting experience with this Graphics card.
