How well can the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

A true powerhouse, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI will run even the most demanding game system requirements released today. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Game performance for the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI where we look at the bigger games played in 2019. Looking closely at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. Of the 1000 most demanding recommended specs found in game requirements today, this gpu is more powerful than the graphics requirement of 997 games in todays list.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI can run Borderlands 3 at 1080p and saw it return strong frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 228 FPS, Medium: 180 FPS, High: 121 FPS and Ultra: 87 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Cyberpunk 2077 is predicted to return a good 67 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Borderlands 3 which delivered good FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 174 FPS, Medium: 137 FPS, High: 92 FPS and Ultra: 66 FPS. Next we have Cyberpunk 2077 running on GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI which is predicted to get L: 134FPS, M: 105FPS, H: 71FPS, U: 51FPS. And for performance contrast the popular eFootball PES 2020 gets L: 267FPS, M: 210FPS, H: 141FPS, U: 101FPS at 1440p. 1440p GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI PC gaming is more than capable at running this screen resolution. 1440p Ultra across almost all modern games is going to be fairly standard with this GPU. We would consider moving this hardware up to 4K screen resolutions for PC gaming today.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI in your PC? This gpu has around 2+ years of running AAA recommended system requirements before any upgrades should be considered.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI? If you want an upgrade suggestion for the GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI then a good choice would be 20 Series GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super as this is better than 997 of the top 1000 most demanding game requirements with 22% better performance as well.

GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI is a solution of two GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB put together using NVIDIA's SLI Technology.

Architecture
The Second variant of the Maxwell Architecture, despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, has an extremely large L2 Cache and features a Third Generation Delta Color Compression which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.
The Second Revision of Maxwell also adds VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination) which makes scenes significantly more lifelike and believable as light interacts more realistically in the game environment and the MFAA technology which provides the same effect as MSAA but at a much lower performance cost.

GPU
It consists of 2 GPUs Codenamed GM200-310-A1 which, together, offer 5632 Shader Processing Units, 352 TMUs and 192 ROPs. The Central Unit is Clocked at 1000MHz and goes up to 1076MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
Each GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 384-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1753MHz.

Power Consumption
Power Consumption lies between 450W and 500W.

Performance
Not Known Yet.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a Very Strong Processor and 16GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SLI.

I call BS, I get 60fps on 1080p with a single 980 ti (everything maxed out) on GTA V. Were did you get that misinformation that 980 ti SLI would get 40 fps on 1080p, that's insane. 980 ti SLI can easily hit 60fps on 4k.
Based on your profile I call this a typical troll post, as no one with their right mind would run a GTX 980 ti with an old and outdated Q6600, only 4gb RAM and a 5:4 monitor from 2006, that does simply not make any sense what so ever. Sorry, no offense.

Using MSAA are similar to frame scaling and DSR, so running 1080p with 8xMSAA are actually more demanding then scaling 4k, and using 8xMSAA would just be like running 8 or 16k resolution, so now wonder why that messes up performance. But well, 980 ti should pull off 30fps on 1080p with all at max (8xMSAA), but running 4k with 8xMSAA are just plain pointless. Remove all MSAA and a single 980 ti would get 30fps in 4k with rest of settings on max.

Also remember to fix your profile page, because the cabinet you have listed has no room for a GTX 980 ti. If it is a mistake or not I don't know, but please get your rig validated if you are genuine and serious and not just anouther of those fake profiles.
Not meaning to sound harsh, but GD has recently florished with fake rigs and untrustworthy profiles. So I really hope you bare with me and understand where my scepticism come from. It is no way meant personal mate :)
