How well can the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

Based on current gaming requirements the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition is considered one of the weakest cards and wont meet modern AAA game specs.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition is at running the more popular games of 2021. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 171 games in the list.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing Days Gone getting 16 FPS with the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition, FIFA 22 predicted to get 52 FPS and Grand Theft Auto VI predicted to get 0 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at Days Gone and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 32 FPS, Medium: 25 FPS, High: 17 FPS and Ultra: 12 FPS. We then checked the performance on FIFA 22 to predict if that will run well. It is predicted to be playable with a 40 FPS at Ultra 1440p. 1440p GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition PC gaming is not ideal and its more advisable to run modern games at 1080p resolution. But if you really want to play games at 1440p then you will likely have to make some graphical adjustments to improve game FPS stability.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition in your PC? Its time to start researching your next graphics card upgrade as the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition is failing to meet modern day gaming system requirements. A gpu AAA lifespan of around 6-12 months.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition? A great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, which has 67% better performance and can run 633 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today. Alternatively a suitable upgrade choice for the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte OC 2GB Edition is the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5300, which is 38% more powerful and can run 312 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements.
