How well can the Radeon RX 480 4GB run games
28 Oct 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

The Radeon RX 480 4GB is a high performing piece of gaming hardware, still confidently featuring in PC gamer computers. This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Game performance for the Radeon RX 480 4GB where we look at the bigger games played in 2020. Looking closely at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 457 games in the list.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the Radeon RX 480 4GB can run Assassins Creed: Valhalla at 1080p and predict it will return playable frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 71 FPS, Medium: 60 FPS, High: 52 FPS and Ultra: 35 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Microsoft Flight Simulator returns a playable 43 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we researched the upcoming Assassins Creed: Valhalla to predict how the Radeon RX 480 4GB would deal with it. Our research revealed a playable series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 54 FPS, Medium: 46 FPS, High: 40 FPS and Ultra: 27 FPS. Next we looked at Microsoft Flight Simulator which was playable with a 33 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Cyberpunk 2077 that we predict will get an Ultra 1440p FPS of 36. Looking at a few of these 1440p results for the Radeon RX 480 4GB we get the impression that it is a perfectly suitable selection of hardware for theis larger screen size. If a game at 1440p struggles a bit or experiences a frame drop then you can tweak settings in game to help get it stable. This might mean lowering it to medium or low in some specific options.
