Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

Based on current gaming requirements the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition is considered one of the weakest cards and wont meet modern AAA game specs.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Lets look at the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2023. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. In terms of performance against the most demanding games today this graphics card can play 169 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Grand Theft Auto VI and predict it will deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We proceeded to look at Back 4 Blood to see how that compared and saw that it returned a playable 28 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we researched the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI to predict how the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition would deal with it. Our research revealed a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. Next we looked at Back 4 Blood which was weak with a 21 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Forza Horizon 5 that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 0. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition is not going to be able to maintain a playable game at this resolution.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition in your PC? There is around 6-12 months of top end gaming left in this card, at which point its graphics card replacement time, assuming the GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition is part of your PC gaming machine.

GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 960 Zotac AMP! 4GB Edition is a Special Edition of NVIDIA's Performance GeForce GTX 960 2GB, created by Zotac.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit now runs at 1266MHz, instead of 1127MHz and goes up to 1329MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer remain the same.

Frame Buffer
The Frame Buffer was doubled to 4GB.
While 4GB are needed in a few Modern Games for increased texture detail, the GPU is not powerful enough to work under other circumstances in which 4GB are needed, such as gaming above 1080p and thus a larger frame buffer is mostly a gimmick.

Cooling Solution
The reference NVIDIA Single-Fan Cooling System has been replaced by Zotac's Dual Fan Cooling Solution. This means the card runs cooler under load.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate a 5% performance over the reference GeForce GTX 960 2GB.
