How well can the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

This computer hardware provides top end graphics. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will easily meet recommended system requirements of games released today. This is a strong benchmarker on modern games and can often return excellent frame rates at high and ultra 1080p. But the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti can also run 1440p pc system requirements.

GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is at running the more popular games of 2023. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. 990 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

Running at 1080p this card gets a good frame rate from Forza Horizon 5 with 64 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Far Cry 6 which returns a reasonable 58 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Grand Theft Auto VI which we predict will get a reasonable 59 FPS.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we ran Forza Horizon 5 on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti to see that it got a reasonable set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra results at 1440p - L: 129FPS, M: 102FPS, H: 68FPS, U: 49FPS. Another popular game to test at 1440p with this card was Far Cry 6 which seemed playable in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 44 FPS. Finally we then took a look at Grand Theft Auto VI where its predicted Ultra 1440p Frame rates were reasonable at 45 FPS. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is certainly a good graphics cards for this increased screen resolutions. It can confidentantly get High or Ultra graphics settings across almost all current games at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is the top 1000 Series graphics card and considered an Enthusiast graphics card based on the Pascal architecture.

Architecture
The Pascal architecture aims for twice as much Performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed P102-300-A1 which has 3584 Shader Processing Units, 224 TMUs and 88 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1480MHz and goes up to 1584MHz, in Boost mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 11.2GB frame buffer of second gen GDDR5X memory, through a 352-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1376MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 220W, it requires at least a 600W PSU with 2 power connectors, a 6-pin and an 8-pin connector.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a High-End Processor and 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
