How well can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB run games
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB is a very low performing piece of gaming hardware and can probably only run indie system requirements.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2023 popular games. This short GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. When considering how well this graphics card can run the 1000 most demanding games available today it can best 216 of the games’ recommended graphics requirements.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB shows us that FIFA 22 is getting a reasonable result of 57 FPS, and then we are seeing Dying Light 2 returning a weak 0 FPS while another game on our list is the Days Gone which is getting 24 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at Dying Light 2 and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We then checked the performance on Days Gone to see if that runs well. It was weak with a 18 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB is not a first choice gaming resolution. While this graphics card would likely be more suited to 1080p gaming, you may be able to make some graphical tweaks in the game options to improve your stability at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB? A great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB, which has 57% better performance and can run 716 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5300, which has 26% better performance and can run 300 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is one of Nvidia's lower end graphics card. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470.

Architecture
The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1290MHz and goes up to 1392MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
The GTX 1050 Ti will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 55+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
